The chain stores of QQRice were established in June 1988. Their origin stores are located in Zuo-Ying district of Kaohsiung, and their broadness mainly stretches from southern to northern Taiwan. Now there are approximate 200 franchise stores and 3 direct selling stores throughout Formosa.

QQRice is the company which is specialized in researching and developing rice food as its products, and the rice ball is one of the major merchandise. In the past, QQRice focused on improving the traditional flavor of rice balls with a specific proportion of japonica rice, and made it tastier. Furthermore, the original three ingredients had been increased to thirty, and could be customized by customer demand. In this case, within four or five years, 100 stores were created. In a short time, QQRice developed an advanced series of rice balls which exceeded the second generation. The rice series were increased to three, such as japonica rice, black glutinous rice, and mixed grains. The ingredients were added from thirty to forty or fifty as well. Most important of all, after overtaking the second generation, the rice balls in Taiwan formally entered the field of biological technology. Therefore, the technic rice balls, which would not cause abdominal distention, came out. This had changed the bad image Chinese people had for the glutinous rice in the past thousand years. So it brought great opportunities for business.

In 2001, due to the WTO effect which brought out the world-wide competition, QQRice upgraded its capability to be compliant with international requirement, and put the third generation on the sales line in August in the same year. Mr. Yu called it "a rice ball wizard" which got more futurities, varieties, and health concepts. He pushed Taiwanese rice balls to another amazing place. The most obvious change was that in addition to the advantage of eliminating abdominal distention, the rice varieties got more diversified and healthier. For instance, the rice series grew up from three to eight and could be replaced in turn by the spare series from the other twenty. Most of them were international certified organic rice and mixed grains which were regarded as the main products, such as the American organic rice, the millet acrospire, the six kinds of organic wheat, the organic amaranth, and so on. instinctively that they were sophisticated, and could cook well. But no one had strategies or solutions for it. At the moment, the opportunity was around the corner. To figure out the new value for rice, the researchers in QQRice spent five years flying over twenty rice producing countries, and collected over 400 kinds of rice. Through the specialty for rice, experiment and cross analysis were carried out. The data showed that the present rice food wasn't good enough, even dull, conservative, and could not satisfied with the competitive food market. With the history millstone, improving rice food has been our obligation and responsibility, and then we decided to spend much time changing the rice value. On the way, there must be a lot of problems, but we knew that the more problems we had would bring us more opportunities. Among these rice, the Canadian rice was much unique. On the other hand, the ingredients were increased to eighty, and could be replaced in turn by the spare ingredients from the other one hundred. Moreover, they were gradually improved by adding high nutritional elements to raise the rice balls' value.
